Beth Meyer offers a variety of youth programming, including youth groups, Shabbat programs, and Scouts. The Youth Activities Committee sponsors and oversees the programs.
A Jewish youth group is a chance to hang out with your Jewish friends and to make new friends right here in Raleigh. The following youth groups are active at Beth Meyer:
Machar (Hebrew for “tomorrow”) is an interactive and lively introduction to youth groups. We offer 3-4 programs a year, including in-house activities and family programs.
Kadima (Hebrew for “forward”) is designed for Middle School students and marks the beginning of their growth as Jewish teenagers. We have programs that focus on social, ritual, and social action themes. We offer 2 programs a month throughout the school year, including
- Field trips
- Regional Kallahs (with kids from DC, MD, VA, and NC)
USY (United Synagogue Youth) is a very active and inviting group of High School teenagers. We offer 1-2 exciting programs a month in a broad spectrum of religious, social, and community activities, including
- Dinners, dances, Shabbatons
- Regional and international conventions
Our Friday evening family service takes place on the first Friday night of every month from September through June.
While parents are in Saturday morning Shabbat services, we are very excited to offer the following alternative, enriched programs for our children:
We welcome children from 18 months old through 1st grade to join us throughout the year for an alternative program during the Torah service. After the Torah procession, children continue downstairs to our supervised playroom and are picked up at the end of Musaf Kiddusha.
This program welcomes children in grades 2-5 to join alternative programming during the Torah service throughout the religious school year (September-May).
Children in grades K-5 are welcome to join us for Junior Congregration. This service is held twice a month in the chapel, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
We currently offer Cub Scouts for boys in the 1st-5th grade. It meets twice a month. If you are interested in leading or joining, please contact the office.
